Janakpur Dham is a historical religious pilgrimage sites for the Hindu Devotees. We believe that, Janakpur Dham is the birthplace of Janaki (Goddess Sita), the consort of Ram. It is named after king Janak, is the headquarters of Dhanusha district. It is located in Tarai region 256 kilometers far from the Kathmandu closed to India border.

It is believed that, the Holy magnificent Janaki Temple was built by the Queen of Tikamargah (India) Maharani Brishbhanu Kunwari Devi in 1811 AD as a mark of devotion to Janaki (Goddess Sita). Every year in the month of December, Hindu devotees celebrate the marriage anniversary of Loard Ram and Sita in Janakpur on Vivah Panchami day. It is one of the biggest Festivals of this region attended by thousands of Devotees from Nepal and India. Dhanusha Dham is very important religious region which is directly connected with the great Hindu Epic Ramayana. As per Epic, one of the three pieces of the great Bow that Lord Rama broke to win Sita’s hand in marriage lies on this site in present day Dhanusha Dham.
